Skelly tights.

I screenprinted feotal skeletons on navy blue tights. I love these so much that I'm already wearing them out, even though July is obviously not the time to be wearing tightly woven leg coverings.

Housefly

Using waterbased textile ink, I screenprinted flies all over these grey American Apparel tights. I stretched the tights over a flat piece of paste board (don't use corrugated cardboard!) and rotated them to cover the whole piece with a polka dot pattern of flies. I heat sealed each fly with a heat gun, which should have been adequate, but sadly the flies faded significantly after the first wash. Thankfully, I got to wear them at least once before they became less than impressive. Next time I'll try using plastisol instead of the waterbased.

Birdcage Tights

Another pair of screenprinted tights. These are acid dyed in blue, and then screenprinted with a discharge solution in the birdcage pattern, so there's no actual ink on the finished piece.



Print of the Week was put on standby for the summer break as I worked on some very large pieces. But, school resumes in two weeks and I intend to be back and posting all manner of stuff then. I've been working on a series of large three dimensional prints and now I really want to show them somewhere so if you have any gallery suggestions let me know. I'm late applying to the 2010 season for the galleries I usually work with (and whom I adore) but I'm eager to have a show finally after taking such a long break.
